This is a start to work that never ends. Working to highlight within ourselves the shadows of bias or discrimination that creep in the back of our own minds is means to come to hard truths. Hard truths come in many forms. The hard truth that we did not act soon enough.
The hard truth that we did not speak loudly enough. The hard truth that we could have shared the Black story more effectively. The hard truth about the effect we could have had to make the world a more tolerant, loving, and inclusive place had we been here sooner.
A lot has been said about continued learning, remaining open, and though, it should go without saying, I’ll say it again. We are learning. We are listening.
In our time of listening and learning, we realize that that we did not do enough. We did not act quickly enough. We absolutely regret not being more in full apart of this journey since our business began years ago.
As a brand, we are working hard to be more diverse and inclusive with our imagery, our messaging, and also within our team. We are committed to connecting with you online, in our hearts, and our places of work, to elevate Black voices and Black business owners because Black Lives Matter.
As a company, we are committed to standing with our employees to provide a loving work environment that fosters conversation, education, and inclusion.
We can’t support our Dubsado community if we don’t support all Black business owners as well.
Dubsado is built on family values and love for all, and we will be working hard to make sure change happens. Family values means being aware of our differences while standing up for everyone and treating them as equals.
To the Black community, we hear you. We see you. We stand with you.
Love,
Becca and Jake
